The story of PATCHWORK begins with a magical horror tale centered on a clan of nature witches called the Mendacs. Without warning, they find themselves under the grips of a deadly new spell that threatens their lives and the forest sanctuary known as the Sacred Hollow.
A dangerous hunt for the conduit of the spell commences— full of action, deep worldbuilding, and a new magical world to explore. This harrowing quest will lead the Root Mother to abandon all principles and logic to save the Hollow, racing against all odds to keep the dangerous new spell from leaking into the world at large…
Cindra, The Root Mother:
Queen of the Mendacs, based in the Sacred Hollow, located in Virginia. The New Spell has been unleashed— Cindra might sacrifice everything she’s built, lest the entire world rot into toxic ruin.
Levidia, Mendac scholar:
Serving as the Root Mother’s assistant and apprentice, the genius (and powerful) witch is given the task of journeying into the depths of the Hollow and uncovering the source of the New Spell.
Keziah, Mendac forager:
One of the few Mendacs to be raised in the Hollow from infancy, Keziah is a gifted young healer called upon by Cindra and the magical superiors to help uncover the New Spell’s true wielder after she is marked for death by the dark magic.
Daire, Mendac runner:
One of Keziah’s closest friends who is tasked with searching for a solution to the New Spell— an extremely competitive and reserved witch under the tutorship of Mothrunner Yoni, one of the oldest witches in the Hollow.
Noa, Mendac guard:
Shunted off from many forms of magic provided by the Root after a ritual mishap, the peace-seeking and ever-vigilant Noa finds herself in the crossroads of Keziah’s impending destiny as the Hollow comes under attack.
Flaps, resident Showak
The Hollow’s loyal wise one who cares for the sanctuary by traversing bubbling-hot plume vents to gather magic resources for the Mendacs— she warns Keziah and her friends of their impending destiny, as an eccentric teacher and secret-keeper.
